Important Travel Advice

Attendees are encouraged to plan their trip and consider all the available travel options ahead of time.  

Trains run regularly to Olympic Park from Lidcombe and the venue is a short walk from the station. Be aware of planned trackwork that may affect your trip to weekend shows.

Planned trackwork – Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 July  

  • T1 Western Line: Buses replace trains between Penrith, Richmond and Granville. Trains run to a changed timetable between Granville and the City. 
  • Metro services will not operate. Buses replace services between Tallawong and Chatswood only. Use trains between Epping or Chatswood and Sydenham.   
  • L2 and L3 light rail services will not run along the entire line. Passengers should use trains between Circular Quay and Central. Buses replace light rail services between Central Chalmers Street and Junior Kingsford or Randwick.

It’ll be busier than usual in Olympic Park with concurrent events taking place on Saturday 18 July including an NRL match from 7.30pm and on Sunday 19 July with a half marathon event and road closures in the precinct from 1.30am until 2pm. If you're attending shows on these dates and times allow plenty of extra travel time. 

Remember, you'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the Opal Travel app ahead of time. 

If you have to drive, travel with your group and pre-book your parking online – available until 11:59pm the night before the event. If you have pre-booked parking, follow the directions of staff and have your parking ticket ready to show at the car park entry.   

Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads approaching the precinct as attendees travel to and from the event, particularly on weeknights and while other events are held in the precinct. You can find real-time updates on traffic conditions at livetraffic.com

Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

More ways to pay

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city. 

The M1 Metro North West & Bankstown Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham from early morning until late. 

Planned Trackwork – Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 July 

  • Metro services will not run between Tallawong and Sydenham.  
  • Buses replace services between Tallawong and Chatswood only.  
  • For travel to and from Waterloo use local buses or trains from Redfern. 
  • Use trains between Epping or Chatswood, the City and Sydenham

Change at Epping or Central for trains towards Lidcombe then Olympic Park.

The closest station to Qudos Bank Arena is Olympic Park.  

Trains run regularly to Lidcombe where you can head to Platform Zero for a direct train to Olympic Park, running every 10 minutes until late.

Wednesday 15 & Thursday 16 July 

  • T1 Western Line: Nightly from 9.40pm to 1.30am, Penrith trains run to a changed timetable and make extra stops at some stations between Parramatta and Ashfield. 
  • T2 Leppington & Inner West Line: Nightly from 9.40pm to 1.30am, Inner West trains do not run. T1 Western or T9 Northern Line trains make extra stops at some stations between Parramatta and Central, to a changed timetable. Trains run between Leppington and Olympic Park. Change trains at Lidcombe to continue your journey towards the City. You will need to change trains if travelling to Museum, St James or Circular Quay. 
  • T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: Nightly from 9.40pm to 1.30am, Inner West trains do not run. T1 Western or T9 Northern Line trains make extra stops at some stations between Lidcombe and Central, to a changed timetable. Trains run between Liverpool and Lidcombe only. Change trains at Lidcombe to continue your journey. You will need to change trains if travelling to Museum, St James or Circular Quay. 
  • T5 Cumberland Line: On Wednesday from 11.50pm to 1.30am, trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond or Leppington and Olympic Park. Some trains start and end at Granville. You may need to change trains at Granville to continue your journey. 
  • T8 Airport & South Line: Nightly from 9.40pm to 1.30am, trains between Sydenham and the City Circle run to a changed timetable. 
  • T9 Northern Line: Nightly from 9.40pm to 1.30am, trains run to a changed timetable and stop at all stations between Ashfield and Macdonaldtown. 
  • Central Coast & Newcastle Line: On Thursday and Friday, buses replace the 01:47 Central to Newcastle Interchange service from Central to Hornsby. Replacement buses leave Central at 01:21, 26 minutes earlier than the normal train timetable.
  • South Coast Line: Nightly from 10pm to 1.30am, some trains run between South Coast Line stations and the City Circle, to a changed timetable. On Thursday from 9.20am to 2.10pm, buses replace trains between Port Kembla and Wollongong. Buses towards Wollongong may leave stations up to 15 minutes earlier than the normal train timetable. 
  • Southern Highlands Line: On Wednesday from 6pm to 10.30pm, buses replace trains between Goulburn and Moss Vale. Trains run between Moss Vale and Campbelltown to the normal timetable. 

Friday 17 July 

  • T1 Western Line: Buses replace trains between Richmond and Clarendon. You may need to catch an earlier bus to ensure you meet your train connection at Clarendon. Trains run between Clarendon and the City, some to a changed timetable. 
  • T5 Cumberland Line: Buses replace trains between Richmond and Clarendon. You may need to catch an earlier bus to ensure you meet you train connection at Clarendon. Trains run between Clarendon and Liverpool or Leppington, some to a changed timetable. 
  • South Coast Line: The 13:16 Bomaderry to Kiama service runs 30 minutes earlier than the normal timetable, leaving Bomaderry at 12:46. A replacement bus service leaves Bomaderry at 13:16, stopping all stations to Kiama, then express to Wollongong. The 14:31 Bomaderry to Berry service runs 10 minutes later than the normal timetable, leaving Bomaderry at 14:41. 

Saturday 18 & Sunday 19 July 

  • M1 Metro North West & Bankstown Line:  Metro services do not run between Tallawong and Sydenham. Buses replace services between Tallawong and Chatswood only. For travel to and from Waterloo use local buses or trains from Redfern. Use trains between Epping or Chatswood, the City and Sydenham. 
  • T1 North Shore Line: Sydney Metro trackwork may affect how you travel. 
  • T1 Western Line: Buses replace trains between Penrith, Richmond and Granville. Trains run to a changed timetable between Granville and the City. Sydney Metro trackwork may also affect how you travel. 
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: Sydney Metro trackwork may affect how you travel. 
  • T5 Cumberland Line: Buses replace trains between Richmond and Granville. T2 Leppington & Inner West Line trains run between Leppington, Granville & the City. 
  • T8 Airport & South Line: On Saturday from 9am to 3pm, trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork between Revesby and Turrella. On Sunday from 8.40am to 3pm, buses replace the all-stations trains between Wolli Creek and Revesby. Express trains continue to run but do not stop at stations between Padstow and Turrella. 
  • T9 Northern Line: Sydney Metro trackwork may affect how you travel. 
  • Blue Mountains Line: Buses replace trains between Penrith and Granville. T1 Western Line trains run between Granville and the City. Trains from Penrith to Blue Mountains Line stations run up to 45 minutes later than the normal timetable. Most Bathurst trains run between Bathurst and Lithgow only, some to a changed timetable. The 07:40 Bathurst to Central and 17:51 Central to Bathurst services run between Bathurst and Central, to a changed timetable. 
  • Central Coast & Newcastle Line: Sydney Metro trackwork may affect how you travel. For travel to T1 North Shore Line stations change at Hornsby, not Epping.   
  • South Coast Line: Buses replace trains between Bomaderry and Wollongong. Trains run between Port Kembla, Wollongong and Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable. Buses do not run to the train timetable. If connection with trains at Wollongong you may need to catch an earlier bus to ensure you meet your train connection. Sydney Metro trackwork may also affect how you travel.

The following bus routes run towards Sydney Olympic Park:

  • Route 525 runs between Parramatta and Lidcombe. Connect with trains to continue your trip to Olympic Park.
  • Route 526 runs between Strathfield and Rhodes Shopping Centre via Sydney Olympic Park precinct and wharf.  
  • Route 533 runs between Sydney Olympic Park and Chatswood via Rhodes & North Ryde.

The closest wharf to Qudos Bank Arena is Sydney Olympic Park Wharf. There is a connecting 526 bus to the venue or alternatively it is approximately a 40-minute walk (3.6km) from the wharf.

F3 Parramatta River services run regularly to Olympic Park, but services are very popular and may reach capacity. Keep this in mind if you’re planning on catching an F3 Parramatta River service. Plan your trip and allow plenty of extra travel time or consider the alternative public transport options available.

F3 Parramatta River ferries between Parramatta and Rydalmere may be affected by low tide and replaced by buses, check for updates here.

L1 Dulwich Hill Line 

L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner

Change at Central for trains to Lidcombe then Olympic Park. 

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines 

L2 Randwick Line light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford Line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Change at Central for trains to Lidcombe then Olympic Park. 

Trackwork Saturday 18 & Sunday 19 July:

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line 

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services run between Carlingford and Westmead via Parramatta CBD. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner

Alight at Parramatta Square and connect with a train service towards Olympic Park from Parramatta Station.  

Passengers are reminded that trams can’t stop quickly or easily – so please stop, listen and look around for trams and use designated pedestrian crossings.

Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads approaching Sydney Olympic Park as attendees travel to and from the show. Travel with your group and allow extra travel time on the M4, Parramatta Road, Homebush Bay Drive and Concord Road.

From 1.30am to 2pm Sunday 19 July 

  • Dawn Fraser Avenue from Showground Road to Edwin Flack Avenue 
  • Olympic Boulevard from Sarah Durack Avenue to Edwin Flack Avenue 
  • Grand Parade from Olympic Boulevard to Orana Parade 

From 3am to 2pm Sunday 19 July 

  • Kevin Coombs Avenue from Pondage Link to Australia Avenue 
  • Marjorie Jackson Parkway from Bennelong Parkway to Australia Avenue 
  • Holker Busway from Hill Road to Kevin Coombs Avenue 
  • Australia Avenue from Grand Parade to Kevin Coombs Avenue 
  • Pondage Link from Hill Road to Edwin Flack Avenue 
  • Edwin Flack Avenue from Qudos Bank Arena loading dock to Pondage Link Avenue

The nearest Taxi Rank is on Herb Elliott Avenue near the Pullman Hotel.

If you’re using taxis or rideshare, remember that roads will be closed within the precinct. Allow plenty of extra travel time due to the increased traffic expected in the precinct before and after the event. 

When leaving, choose a pick-up location away from the immediate area around the stadium to avoid delays

Visit Sydney Olympic Park – Parking to secure your parking space ahead of the event, available until 11:59pm the night before the event unless sold out prior. A flat rate $35 parking fee will apply. Parking will be in high demand with other events taking place in the park on the weekend, so attendees are encouraged to pre-book their parking. 

If you have pre-booked a space, follow the directions of staff and have your parking ticket ready to show at the car park entry. Carpool with your group and allow plenty of additional travel time. Use Silverwater Road, Holker Street and Hill Road to get to your car park and avoid the heavy traffic congestion expected at the Homebush Bay Drive roundabout. 

If you haven’t pre-booked, follow the variable message signs within Sydney Olympic Park to the best available casual parking. 

Traffic delays are expected after the event as attendees leave the precinct.
