Industrial action suspended: Train services to be restored following Fair Work Commission order
Train services are gradually resuming across NSW, after recent disruptions caused by industrial action.
While services are being restored, expect ongoing delays and allow extra travel time as the rail network recovers.
Key safety critical infrastructure at Gosford is being re-certified. Temporary speed restrictions are still in place on parts of the Sydney network due to missed critical maintenance during the industrial action. These restrictions may affect travel times, and work is ongoing to address the increased maintenance needs caused by recent disruptions.
The Sydney to Grafton and return XPT services, previously replaced by coaches due to industrial action, are set to resume. However, NSW TrainLink regional services continue to be delayed over the coming days due to severe storm damage. Clean-up efforts are underway.
The Fair Work Commission has issued an interim order to suspend industrial action that has significantly impacted train services across NSW.
Passengers are urged to:
- Allow extra travel time.
- Use the Trip Planner or travel apps to stay informed
- Check for the latest updates before travelling
Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink are working to restore normal services as quickly as possible and thank passengers for their understanding during this recovery period.
