Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including trains, buses, ferries and light rail. There is also a Travel Cap of $2.80 on Sundays.

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

More ways to pay

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport in the Opal network, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Tallawong Station and Chatswood Station.

Metro services start from the early morning and run every 10 minutes until late. Change at Epping to connect with train services towards Olympic Park.

You can use your Opal card or accepted contactless payment method on Sydney Metro services.

The closest station to Qudos Bank Arena is Olympic Park.

Additional express trains will run from Central on Friday and Saturday mornings, alternatively catch a train to Lidcombe for a direct service to Olympic Park from Platform Zero running every 10 minutes until midnight both nights.

Friday: express trains will leave Central at 8:29am, 8:58am, 9:24am and 9:36am, stopping at Redfern, Strathfield then Olympic Park.

Saturday: express trains will leave Central at 10:44am and 11:30am, stopping at Redfern, Strathfield then Olympic Park.

Trackwork

Weeknight trackwork is taking place on Friday 22 November and may affect how you travel to and from the event:

  • T5 Cumberland Line: From 19:00 until 01:00 trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond and Blacktown or Granville, and between Granville and Leppington only.
  • Southern Highlands Line: From 20:00 until 02:00, buses replace trains from Moss Vale to Campbelltown. From 21:50 until 02:00, buses replace trains from Campbelltown to Moss Vale. 

Trackwork is taking place from 02:00 Saturday 23 November until 02:00 Monday 25 November and may affect how you travel to and from the event:

  • City Circle Line: Trains run in one direction only, from Central first stop Museum. 
  • T1 Western Line: Trains run to a changed timetable between Penrith and Central. Richmond trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond and Olympic Park. 
  • T1 North Shore Line: Trains run between Berowra and Wynyard or Lindfield and North Sydney only.
  • T2 Inner West & Leppington Line and T5 Cumberland Line: Buses replace trains between Fairfield and Glenfield, then continue to Macarthur.
  • T3 Bankstown Line: Buses replace trains between Liverpool and Bankstown. 
  • T8 Airport & South Line: Buses replace trains between Macarthur and Glenfield, then continue to Fairfield. Trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and the City via the Airport. Revesby trains run between Revesby and Central via the Airport. Trains from the City Circle run to Macarthur via Sydenham. 
  • T9 Northern Line: Trains run to a changed timetable between Hornsby and Central. 
  • Southern Highlands Line: Buses replace trains between Goulburn, Moss Vale and Central.
  • Hunter Line: Buses replace trains between Dungog and Maitland and between Scone and Maitland. 

Trackwork is carried out on an ongoing basis to maintain the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the Sydney Trains network. The following Sydney Buses services run to Olympic Park:

  • Route 525 runs between Parramatta and Burwood via Sydney Olympic Park.
  • Route 526 runs from the Sydney Olympic Park Ferry Wharf to Olympic Park.
  • Route 533 runs from Sydney Olympic Park to Chatswood via Rhodes & North Ryde.

Sydney Ferries services are very popular and may reach capacity especially on weekends. Keep this in mind if you’re planning on catching an F3 Parramatta River service. Use the Trip Planner and consider the alternative public transport options available.

Qudos Bank Arena is around a 40 minute walk (3.6km) from Sydney Olympic Park Wharf. There is a connecting 526 bus to the venue.

Light rail services run between Central Station and Dulwich Hill with stops at popular CBD and Inner West destinations. Change at Central to connect with trains towards Olympic Park.

Heavy traffic is expected on roads approaching Sydney Olympic Park including the M4, Parramatta Road, Homebush Bay Drive and Concord Road, particular on the Friday night during evening peak.

Sydney Olympic Park Authority may close some local roads to accommodate increased public transport services and ensure pedestrian safety during events. For road closure details, visit Sydney Olympic Park Authority and check out the interactive map.
