L1 Dulwich Hill line light rail services run every 15 minutes between Central Grand Concourse and Dulwich Hill. Catch L1 light rail services to the Leichhardt North stop which is a short walk to Leichhardt Oval via Mary St.

Remember it’s mandatory to wear a face mask on public transport, and you'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device. Register your details online at Opal or via the app ahead of time.

Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at anOpal retailer.

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Tallawong Station and Chatswood Station.

Metro services start from the early morning running every 10 minutes until late. Change at Epping for trains to Central to connect with light rail services or buses to Leichhardt.

Trackwork

Weeknight trackwork is taking place from 2am Saturday 28 May until 2am Monday 30 May and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner:

  • T1 Western Line: Buses replace trains between Emu Plains and Blacktown. Trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond, Blacktown and the City. From 1am until 6am, trains run between Blacktown and Ashfield only, making extra stops at Flemington and Homebush. Buses replace all trains between Ashfield and Central.
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: Daily from 6.30am until 12.15pm, trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. Some trains start or end at Hurstville or Sutherland. You may need to change trains to continue your journey.
  • T8 Airport & South Line: On Saturday from 8.40am until 3pm, buses replace the all-stations trains between Wolli Creek and Revesby. Express trains continue to run but will not stop at stations between Padstow and Turrella.
  • Blue Mountains Line: Buses replace trains between Bathurst and Blacktown. T1 Western Line trains run between Blacktown and the City. These trains do not run to the Blue Mountains Line train timetable. If you are travelling to Lithgow to connect with NSW TrainLink Regional Coaches, please call 132 232 to confirm departure times. Buses replace the 01:17am Katoomba to Mount Victoria service.
  • Central Coast & Newcastle Line: Trains run between Central Coast & Newcastle Line stations and Strathfield only, some to a changed timetable.
  • South Coast Line: Daily from 6.30am until 12.15pm, some trains run to a changed timetable and make extra stops between Sutherland and Hurstville.

A number or regular bus services make stops within walking distance of Leichhardt Oval including routes 440, 437, 445 and 470.

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines

L2 Randwick light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Services run regularly, plan your trip using Trip Planner.

From Central change for L1 Light Rail services leaving from Central Grand Concourse to get to Leichhardt North, which is within walking distance of the oval.

Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads approaching Leichhardt Oval including James Street, Perry Street, Balmain Road, Mary Street and Glover Street as fans make their way to the game.

A section of Mary Street may close before the game and will reopen when crowds have cleared the area. Traffic will be detoured via Chapel Street.

There are no designated taxi ranks available at Leichhardt Oval. The best location for drop off is Mary Street and for pick up is Perry Street.
