Important Travel Advice

Attendees are encouraged to plan their trip and consider all the available travel options ahead of time.  

Trains run regularly to Olympic Park from Lidcombe and the venue is a short walk from the station. 

Remember, you'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the Opal Travel app ahead of time.

If you have to drive, travel with your group and pre-book your parking online – available until 11:59pm the night before the event.

Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads approaching the precinct as attendees travel to and from the event. You can find real-time updates on traffic conditions at livetraffic.com.

Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

More ways to pay

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Tallawong Station and Chatswood Station.

Metro services start from the early morning running every 10 minutes until late. Change at Epping for trains towards Strathfield to connect with services toward Olympic Park. 

Please note that on Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 July from 8.20pm, metro services run to a reduced frequency between Chatswood and Tallawong, every 30 minutes

The closest station to Qudos Bank Arena is Olympic Park. 

Trains run regularly to Lidcombe where you can head to Platform Zero for a direct train to Olympic Park, running every 10 minutes until late.

Trackwork

Planned weekend trackwork is taking place throughout the event on the following lines and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner:  

Weekday – Wednesday 17 to Friday 19 July 

  • Metro North West Line: On Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 July from 8.30pm, metro services run to a reduced frequency between Chatswood and Tallawong, every 30 minutes
  • T2 Inner West & Leppington Line: On Wednesday and Thursday, nightly from 9.50pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Leppington and Fairfield. Trains run to a changed timetable between Fairfield and the City via Granville. Buses also replace T3 Bankstown Line trains between Liverpool and Villawood. Trains continue to run between Macarthur, Glenfield and the City via the Airport. 
  • South Coast Line: On Saturday from 3am to 11am, buses replace trains between Dapto, Port Kembla and Sutherland. You may need to change buses to continue your journey. Trains run to a changed timetable between Bomaderry, Kiama and Dapto, and T4 Illawarra trains run between Sutherland and Bondi Junction. On Sunday from 2.30am to 9.50am, buses replace trains between Bomaderry and Wollongong. You may need to change buses to continue your journey. Trains run between Port Kembla, Wollongong and Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable. The 2.39am Kiama to Bondi Junction service will run up to 14 minutes earlier than the normal timetable from Kiama to Coniston, then run to the normal timetable from Wollongong to Bondi Junction. 
  • Central Coast & Newcastle Line: Trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork between Strathfield and Central. On Saturday from 9pm to 2am, trains run between Central Coast & Newcastle Line stations and Strathfield only. Buses replace trains from Strathfield to Central, in that direction only. Trains continue to run from Central to Strathfield, in that direction only. Change at Strathfield to continue your journey. 
  • Blue Mountains Line: Trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork between Strathfield and Central. On Saturday from 9pm to 2am, most trains run between Blue Mountains Line stations and Parramatta only. Change trains to continue your journey. Trackwork between Strathfield and Central may also affect how you travel. 
  • T9 Northern Line: Trains run to a changed timetable and make extra stops at all stations between Ashfield and Macdonaldtown. On Saturday from 9pm to 2am, buses replace trains from Ashfield to Central, in that direction only. Trains run to a changed timetable between Hornsby and Ashfield. Change at Strathfield for express buses to Central or change at Ashfield for buses stopping all-stations towards Central. Trains continue to run from the City to Hornsby via Strathfield, in that direction only. 
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: On Saturday from 4am to 11.30am, buses replace trains between Waterfall and Sutherland. Trains run between Cronulla, Sutherland and Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable.  
  • T3 Bankstown Line: Trains may run to a changed timetable. 
  • T2 Inner West & Leppington Line: Inner West trains will not run. T1 Western and T9 Northern Line trains make extra stops at some stations between Homebush and Central. Leppington trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Strathfield via Granville, making an extra stop at Homebush. You may need to change trains to continue your journey. On Saturday from 9pm to 2am, express buses replace trains from Strathfield to Central, in that direction only. All-stations buses replace trains from Ashfield to Central. T9 Northern Line trains run between Strathfield and Ashfield. All-stations and limited stop trains continue to run from the City to Strathfield, in that direction only. 
  • T1 Western Line: Penrith trains run to a changed timetable and make extra stops at Homebush, Burwood, Croydon and Ashfield. Richmond trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond and Olympic Park. Change trains at Parramatta to continue your journey towards the City. On Saturday from 9pm to 2am, trains from Penrith run to the City via Bankstown, to a changed timetable. Trains from the City to Penrith continue to run via Strathfield. Buses replace trains from Strathfield to Central, in that direction only. 
  • Hunter Line: From Monday 15 to Thursday 18, buses replace some trains between Scone, Muswellbrook and Maitland. Most trains run between Maitland and Newcastle Interchange but may be affected by an ongoing police operation at short notice.

Weekend – Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 July  

  • T1 North Shore Line: Trains may run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern due to trackwork between Strathfield and Central. 
  • Hunter Line: On Thursday, buses replace the following trains between Muswellbrook and Maitland: the 8.14am Newcastle Interchange to Muswellbrook train and the 10.09am Muswellbrook to Newcastle Interchange train. Trains run to the normal timetable between Maitland and Newcastle Interchange. 
  • Central Coast & Newcastle Line: On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, buses replace the 1.47am Central to Newcastle Interchange service from Central to Hornsby. Central Coast & Newcastle Line trains run to a changed timetable via the T1 North Shore Line, making extra stops at Gordon, Chatswood, then all stations to Central. 
  • T9 Northern Line: On Wednesday and Thursday, nightly from 9.50pm to 1am, buses replace trains between Hornsby and Rhodes. Trains run between Rhodes and the City, to a changed timetable. 
  • T5 Cumberland Line: On Wednesday and Thursday, nightly from 9.50pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Leppington and Fairfield. Trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond and Fairfield. Some trains run between Richmond and Olympic Park. You may need to change trains to continue your journey. 
  • T3 Bankstown Line: On Wednesday and Thursday, nightly from 9.50pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Liverpool and Villawood. Trains run between Villawood and the City, some to a changed timetable. Buses also replace T2 Leppington Line trains between Leppington and Fairfield or Granville.

The following Sydney Buses services run to Sydney Olympic Park:

  • Route 525 runs between Parramatta and Burwood via Sydney Olympic Park. 
  • Route 526 runs from Rhodes to Burwood via Sydney Olympic Park Ferry Wharf
  • Route 533 runs from Sydney Olympic Park to Chatswood via Rhodes and North Ryde.

The closest wharf to Qudos Bank Arena is Sydney Olympic Park Wharf. There is a connecting 526 bus to the venue or alternatively it is approximately a 40-minute walk (3.6km) from the wharf.

F3 Parramatta River services run regularly to Olympic Park, but services are very popular and may reach capacity. Keep this in mind if you’re planning on catching an F3 Parramatta River service. Plan your trip and allow plenty of extra travel time or consider the alternative public transport options available.

F3 Parramatta River ferries between Parramatta and Rydalmere may be affected by low tide and replaced by buses, check for updates here.

L1 Dulwich Hill Line

L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

Change at Central for trains to Lidcombe then Olympic Park. 

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines

L2 Randwick Line light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford Line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using Trip Planner.

Change at Central for trains to Lidcombe to connect with shuttle trains to Olympic Park.

Traffic will be heavier than usual on roads approaching Sydney Olympic Park as attendees travel to and from the show. Travel with your group and allow extra travel time on the M4, Parramatta Road, Homebush Bay Drive and Concord Road. 

If you have to drive, carpool with your group and pre-book your parking online ahead of time to secure a space – available until 11:59pm the night before the event unless sold out prior.

To get to your carpark and avoid the heavy traffic congestion expected at the Homebush Bay Drive roundabout, use Silverwater Road, Holker Street and Hill Road.

Sydney Olympic Park Authority may close some local roads to accommodate increased public transport services and ensure pedestrian safety during events. For road closure details, visit the Sydney Olympic Park interactive map

The nearest Taxi Rank is on Herb Elliott Avenue near the Pullman Hotel.

If you’re using taxis or rideshare, remember that roads may be closed within the precinct. Allow plenty of extra travel time due to the increased traffic expected in the precinct before and after the event. When leaving, choose a pick-up location away from the immediate area around the stadium to avoid delays.

Visit Sydney Olympic Park – Parking to secure your parking space ahead of the event. A flat rate $35 parking fee will apply.

If you have pre-booked a space, follow the directions of staff and have your parking ticket ready to show at the car park entry. Carpool with your group and allow plenty of additional travel time. Use Silverwater Road, Holker Street and Hill Road to get to your car park and avoid the heavy traffic congestion expected at the Homebush Bay Drive roundabout.

Traffic delays are expected after the event as attendees leave the precinct.
