Important Travel Advice

Attendees are encouraged to plan their trip and consider all the available travel options ahead of time.   

Race tickets include travel on all modes of public transport, simply show your ticket to transport staff when boarding services.

The best train stations for connections to Rosehill Gardens are Parramatta and Westmead where you can connect with light rail services to the racecourse. 

Please note buses replace T1 Western Line trains between Penrith, Richmond and Granville. Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Granville and the City. Plan ahead and allow extra travel time.

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services run regularly via Parramatta and stop at Rosehill Gardens, across from the racecourse, with additional services running for the event. Alight at the Rosehill Gardens and continue on foot via Grand Avenue and the underpass to the racecourse. See the Rosehill Gardens transport map (pdf 727KB) to find your way. 

If you have to drive, travel with your group and arrive early. There’s parking on-site at the racecourse or consider using rideshare and taxis instead. Allow extra travel time as traffic may be heavier than usual. You can find real-time updates on traffic conditions at livetraffic.com.

Event ticket entitlements

Valid pre-purchased tickets to Everest Carnival 2025 at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse between 20 September and 4 November (inclusive) include travel to and from Rosehill Racecourse on the following transport services – just show your event ticket or ATC Members card to transport staff when boarding: 

  • Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink services (bounded by Bomaderry, Goulburn, Bathurst, Scone and Dungog stations) 
  • Sydney Buses 
  • Sydney Metro services. 
  • Sydney, Parramatta and Newcastle Light Rail services 
  • Sydney and Newcastle Ferries 

Remember to keep your event ticket safe for your return journey or you'll need to use your Opal card or contactless payment method, as you must have a valid ticket when travelling on public transport. Your event ticket is valid on the modes of public transport listed above until 4am the following day. 

Note: an additional train station access fee applies for travel to or from Domestic and International Airport stations. The access fee is not covered by your event ticket travel entitlements. 

Transport Park&Ride Car Parks 

Park for free when you catch public transport. Transport Park&Ride provides up to 18 hours of free parking each day. All you have to do is complete a public transport trip. Located close to public transport hubs, Park&Ride car parks help you connect more easily to train, bus and ferry services. 

Tickets to Everest Carnival race days at Rosehill Gardens include travel on transport and free Park&Ride parking. When leaving the car park use the intercom button at the exit gate to speak with the operator and show your event ticket.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city. 

The M1 Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham from early morning until late.

Change at Epping to connect with buses to Rosehill or trains to Parramatta where you can connect with light rail services to the Rosehill Gardens stop. See the Rosehill Gardens transport map (pdf 727KB) to find your way.

Trackwork

Planned weekend trackwork is taking place on Saturday 11 October on the following lines and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner

  • M1 Metro Line: Metro services will not run between Central and Sydenham. Services run between Tallawong and Martin Place, and between Martin Place and Central only. Change at Martin Place for metro services towards Tallawong or Central, or T4 trains to Sydenham.
  • T1 North Shore Line: From 11.30pm to 5.40am, trains run between Berowra and Wynyard only, some to a changed timetable. Use metro services between Chatswood, Crows Nest or Victoria Cross and the City, or change at Wynyard for a City Circle train or the light rail. Buses replace trains between Central and Strathfield.
  • T1 Western Line: Buses replace trains between Penrith, Richmond and Granville. Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Granville and the City. Buses also run between some T1 Western Line stations and Tallawong. Frequent metro services run between Tallawong and the City. From 11pm to 5.40am, buses replace trains between Strathfield and Central. Trains run between Granville and Ashfield only, to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. Change at Strathfield for express and all-stations buses towards Central or remain on the train if you are travelling to Burwood, Croydon or Ashfield.
  • T2 Leppington & Inner West Line: Inner West trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Liverpool and the City. From 11pm to 5.40am, buses replace trains between Strathfield and Central. Trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Ashfield via Granville and between Liverpool and Lidcombe via Regents Park. Change at Lidcombe for trains towards the City. T1 trains run between Penrith and Ashfield only. Change at Strathfield for express and all-stations buses towards Central or remain on the train if you are travelling to Burwood, Croydon or Ashfield.
  • T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: Trains run to a changed timetable between Liverpool and Lidcombe only. You may need to change trains at Lidcombe to continue your journey. T2 trains run between Leppington or Liverpool and the City via Granville. From 11pm to 5.40am,, buses replace trains between Strathfield and Central. Trains run to a changed timetable between Liverpool and Lidcombe. Change at Lidcombe for trains towards the Ashfield. T2 trains run between Leppington and Ashfield only. Change at Strathfield for express and all-stations buses towards Central or remain on the train if you are travelling to Burwood, Croydon or Ashfield.
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra: All Cronulla and some Waterfall trains make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. From 4am to 11.30am, buses replace trains between Waterfall and Sutherland. Trains run to a changed timetable between Cronulla, Sutherland and Bondi Junction.
  • T5 Cumberland Line: Buses replace trains between Richmond and Granville. Trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and the City via Granville and between Liverpool and Lidcombe via Regents Park. From 11pm to 5.40am, trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Leppington and Ashfield via Granville and between Liverpool and Lidcombe via Regents Park. Buses replace all trains between Strathfield and Central.
  • T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown Line: Trains run to a changed timetable and reduced frequency, every 30 minutes.
  • T8 Airport & South Line: Trains will not run between Sydenham and the City Circle. T4 trains run between Sydenham and North Sydney, making extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. Trains via the Airport run to the normal timetable.
  • T9 Northern Line: From 11pm to 5.40am, buses replace trains between Strathfield and Central. Change at Epping for metro services to the City or change at Strathfield for express and all-stations buses towards Central. Trains run between Hornsby and Strathfield, some to a changed timetable.
  • Blue Mountains Line: Buses replace trains between Penrith and Granville. Trains from Penrith to Blue Mountains Line stations run up to 45 minutes later than the normal timetable. Bathurst trains continue to run between Bathurst and Central, to a changed timetable. From 11pm to 5.40am, buses also replace trains between Strathfield and Central.  Trains run between Granville and Ashfield only, to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. Change at Strathfield for express and all-stations buses towards Central or remain on the train if you are travelling to Burwood, Croydon or Ashfield
  • Central Coast & Newcastle Line: Most trains run between Central Coast & Newcastle Line stations and Strathfield only. Change at Epping for metro services to the City, or change trains at Strathfield to continue your journey. From 7.30pm to 5am, buses replace trains between Wyong and Hornsby. Trains run to a changed timetable between Newcastle Interchange and Wyong. Until 11pm, T1 and T9 trains run between Hornsby and the City, some to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. From 11pm to 5.40am, buses replace trains between Strathfield and Central. T1 trains run between Hornsby and Wynyard, T9 trains run between Hornsby and Strathfield some to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. Change at Epping for metro services to the City or change at Strathfield for express and all-stations buses towards Central.
  • Hunter Line: From 8.50pm to 2am, buses replace trains between Telarah and Newcastle Interchange.
  • South Coast Line: From 12.50am to 3am, buses replace trains between Wollongong and Kiama. From 3am to 11am, buses replace trains between Dapto, Port Kembla and Sutherland. Trains run to a changed timetable between Bomaderry, Kiama and Dapto, and T4 Illawarra trains run between Sutherland and Bondi Junction.
  • Southern Highlands Line: From 4.40am to 4.50pm, buses replace trains between Goulburn, Moss Vale and Campbelltown. T8 Airport & South Line trains run between Campbelltown and the City via the Airport.

From Parramatta Interchange, route 920 services run towards Rosehill making stops near the racecourse. Services run every 20 minutes on weekends. Route 920:

  • Services leave from Parramatta Station Interchange, Stand A2, and drop off on James Ruse Drive opposite Prospect Street.
  • Services leave from James Ruse Drive at Prospect Street and drop off at Parramatta Interchange.

The closest wharf to the Rosehill Racecourse is Parramatta Wharf.

Please note that due to essential maintenance work, buses replace F3 Parramatta River ferry services between Parramatta and Sydney Olympic Park. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

From the wharf, walk to the Robin Thomas light rail stop via the riverside and Argus Lane to connect with services to Rosehill Gardens stop to get within short walking distance of the racecourse.

F3 Parramatta River services run regularly to Parramatta, but services are very popular and may reach capacity. Keep this in mind if you’re planning on catching an F3 Parramatta River service. Plan your trip and allow plenty of extra travel time or consider the alternative public transport options available. 

Please note, F3 Parramatta River ferries between Parramatta and Rydalmere may be affected by low tide and replaced by buses, check for updates here.

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services run between Carlingford and Westmead via Parramatta CBD. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

The closest light rail stop to the racecourse is Rosehill Gardens. Alight at Rosehill Gardens and continue on foot via Grand Ave and the underpass to the racecourse. See the Rosehill Gardens transport map (pdf 727KB) to find your way.

Attendees are reminded that trams can’t stop quickly or easily – so please stop, listen and look around for trams and use designated pedestrian crossings. 

L1 Dulwich Hill Line

L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Use the Trip Planner to plan your trip.

From Central, change for trains to Parramatta to connect with light rail to Rosehill Gardens. 

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines

L2 Randwick light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily, plan your trip using Trip Planner

From Central, change for trains to Parramatta to connect with light rail to Rosehill Gardens.

Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads approaching the racecourse as attendees travel to and from the event. Allow extra travel time on roads including James Ruse Drive and Hassall Street.   

Drivers are reminded that light rail services are running between Westmead, Parramatta and Carlingford. Trams can’t stop quickly or easily – so exercise extra caution when driving in the area. Read the news story for more information.

Drop-off: taxis enter Rosehill Gardens Racecourse through the Grand Avenue gates but are not permitted to stop on James Ruse Drive or Grand Avenue

Pick-up: taxis are located on Oak Street over the Equine bridge located at the Might and Power entry.

Free unreserved members parking is available in: 

  • P4 and P5 car parks located on James Ruse Drive and Prospect Street. 
  • P6 Infield car park via Gate 2 on Unwin Street. 

Reserved members car parking is available for those with annual car park passes. 

Special Event Clearways  

Special event clearway parking restrictions will be in effect at the following locations: 

  • From 7am to 8pm: Grand Avenue from 100m Prior to Gate 1 Australian Turf Club Rosehill Gardens to opposite Grand Avenue North

Clearways are strict no-parking zones for all vehicle types and apply even to local residents and TfNSW Mobility Scheme Permit holders. Check signs carefully as vehicles left in clearways will be towed and a fee applies. If your vehicle is towed, you can search your vehicle registration at the Find My Car website to find its new location, or alternatively call 132 701 to speak to an operator.
