Important Travel Advice
800 riders are expected to take part in the inaugural Vic100 cycle ride travelling 100km from Penrith to Mount Victoria via Bells Line of Road. Closures will be in place along parts of the course, while on other sections cyclists will share roads with motorists. The ride starts from Tench Reserve in Jamisontown, near Penrith, and finishes at the Victoria and Albert Guest House in Mount Victoria.
Participants are encouraged to consider the public transport options, with trains running regularly to Penrith and return from Mount Victoria stations to get you there and home again.
- Start: The closest station to the start area at Tench Reserve is Penrith on the T1 Western Line. Trains run regularly on weekends. The park is a short 12-minute cycle ride from Penrith Station via High St and Nepean Ave.
- Finish: The closest station to the finish area at the Victoria and Albert Guest House is Mount Victoria on the Blue Mountains Line, which is a short ride away via Patrick St. Trains back towards Penrith depart Mount Victoria hourly. Please follow instructions from train staff when boarding services with bikes and allow extra time.
Roads will be closed between 6.30am and 12pm along parts of the course including Bells Line of Road. Some roads around the start area in Penrith will close from 4.30am and some roads around the finish area in Mount Victoria will remain closed til 4pm near the finish line.
Bells Line of Road will be closed between Bell and Kurrajong between 6.30am and midday. The road will reopen in stages with access reopened by 10am from Kurrajong and 12pm from Bell. Motorists travelling between Lithgow and Sydney on Sunday will need to use the Great Western Highway instead.
Cyclists will share roads with motorists along some sections of the course. You can find real-time updates on traffic conditions and closures at livetraffic.com.
Note: Bikes are not permitted on any buses, including train replacement buses and Southwest Link services. Buses do not have space to safely carry bikes, and doing so may inconvenience or endanger other passengers. On other services, you can bring a bike or board if there’s space available. Keep it secure and out of aisles, doorways and emergency exits. It must not block seats, create a safety risk or inconvenience other passengers. Opal
You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.
Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.
More ways to pay
If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.
Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city.
The M1 Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham from early morning until late.
Change at Central to connect with Sydney Trains services to Penrith to get within short riding distance of the start line.
Trackwork – weekend Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 November:
- Metro services will not run between Central and Sydenham on Saturday and Sunday. Services run between Tallawong and Martin Place, and between Martin Place and Central only. Change at Martin Place for metro services towards Tallawong or Central.
- Additionally on Sunday, buses replace T4 trains between Bondi Junction and Central. Replacement buses do not leave from Martin Place Station. Change at Central for trains to Sydenham. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.
E-Bikes: Participants can travel with e-bikes on Sydney Trains & NSW TrainLink intercity services. This excludes converted e-bikes (regular pedal bikes that have been fitted with batteries and motors) which are banned on Trains and Metro services effective 1 November 2025. Trackwork
Planned trackwork is taking place during the event on Sunday 16 November on the following lines and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner.
- M1 Metro North West & Bankstown Line: On Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 November Metro services do not run between Central and Sydenham. Services run between Tallawong and Martin Place, and between Martin Place and Central only. Change at Martin Place for metro services towards Tallawong or Central. For travel to and from Waterloo use local buses or trains from Redfern. On Sunday, buses replace T4 trains between Bondi Junction and Central. Replacement buses do not leave from Martin Place Station.
- T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: Buses replace trains between Central and Bondi Junction. Replacement buses do not leave from Martin Place Station. Trains run to a changed timetable between Cronulla, Waterfall and North Sydney, with some making extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. Change at: Central for buses to Kings Cross and Edgecliff, or metro services to Martin Place, or Town Hall for express buses to Bondi Junction
- T8 Airport & South Line: Trains will not run between Sydenham and the City Circle. T4 trains run between Sydenham and North Sydney, making extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. Trains via the Airport run to the normal timetable.
- Hunter Line: From 10pm to 2am, buses replace trains between Telarah and Newcastle Interchange.
- South Coast Line: From 7.30am to 11.30am, at Helensburgh and Otford, all trains leave from platform 1. From 12pm to 4pm, at Otford and Helensburgh, all trains leave from platform 2. Buses replace trains between Central and Bondi Junction. Replacement buses do not leave from Martin Place Station. Most trains run to a changed timetable between South Coast Line stations and the City Circle. Change at: Central for buses to Kings Cross and Edgecliff, or metro services to Martin Place or Town Hall for express buses to Bondi Junction Metro services do not run between Sydenham and Central.

If you're travelling without a bike, limited bus options are available from Penrith Station to the start area, and in Mount Victoria. Train services are the best way to get to and from the event.

We don’t recommend travel on ferries with bikes. Crews can refuse to allow a bicycle on board if there is a safety concern or not enough room for it to be safely stowed on board so make sure to have an alternative transport option in mind.

Light rail staff reserve the right to restrict the number of bicycles or refuse access when services are full or close to capacity. They may also request a passenger to remove their bicycle from a light rail service if they believe a passenger is interfering with the comfort or safety of others. L1 Dulwich Hill Line
L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines
L2 Randwick Line light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford Line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Change at Central for train services towards Penrith on the T1 Western Line.
Planned Maintenance - Saturday 15 to Friday 21 November inclusive
- L2 Randwick Line and L3 Kingsford Line light rail services will not run between Circular Quay and Town Hall. Use Trains or Metro services instead.
- Services will continue to run between Town Hall and Randwick or Juniors Kingsford.
- Plan ahead and allow extra travel time.
L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line
L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services run between Carlingford and Westmead via Parramatta CBD. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.
Change at Parramatta or Westmead for train services towards Penrith on the T1 Western Line.
Passengers are reminded that trams can’t stop quickly or easily – so please stop, listen and look around for trams and use designated pedestrian crossings.

Bells Line of Rd closures:
- Bells Line of Road will be closed between Bell and Kurrajong between 6.30am and midday. The road will reopen in stages with access reopened by 10am from Kurrajong and 12pm from Bell.

- Bells Line of Rd closed in both directions between Kurrajong, Old Bells Line of Rd and Bilpin, Valley Ridges Rd from 7am to 10am.
- From Bell, no access to Bells Line of Rd from 6.30am until 12pm midday.
- From Bilpin, westbound access towards Bell closed 7am until midday, eastbound access towards Kurrajong closed 7am until 10am.
Local access: Cyclists will be travelling from Kurrajong to Bell in the westbound lane of Bells Line of Rd.
Local traffic from properties along Bells Line of Rd needing to exit while the event is underway will be permitted to travel in the eastbound lane only, under direction of traffic control and under a reduced 40km/h speed limit.
Darling Causeway closures:
- The Darling Causeway will be closed from Bell at Bells Line of Rd to Mount Victoria at Station St from 9.30am to 12.30pm.
- During this time, motorists from Lithgow or Dargan can travel eastbound as far as Bell then will get turned around to return westbound back towards Lithgow.
- Motorists travelling between Mount Victoria and Lithgow can use the Great Western Hwy.

Jamisontown - From 4.30am to 8am:
- Jamison Rd westbound between Tench Ave and Mulgoa Rd
- Tench Ave between access road to Tench Reserve Boat Ramp and northern entry to Nepean Shores, The East Bank (both directions)
- Tench Ave southbound between the northern entry to Nepean Shores, The East Bank and Jamison Rd
Agnes Banks - From 5.45am to 8.30am
- Crowleys Ln between Castlereagh Rd and Yarramundi Ln (both directions)
- Old Kurrajong Rd between Yarramundi Ln and Kurrajong Rd (both directions)
- Yarramundi Ln between Crowleys Ln and Old Kurrajong Rd (both directions)
Kurrajong - From 6am to 9.30am:
- Old Bells Line of Rd northbound between Bells Line of Rd and Woodburn Rd
Mount Victoria
- From 9:30am to 1pm: Station Street between Great Western Highway and Cobb Lane (both directions)
- From 9:30am to 4pm: Harley Ave between Station St and Patrick St (both directions)
There is limited parking on site near the Tench Reserve start line in Jamisontown.
Consider the public transport options include nearby train stations and plan ahead.
