Important Travel Advice

Fans are encouraged to plan their trip and consider all the available travel options ahead of time.  

The closest station to the stadium is Broadmeadow on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line. The stadium is a short walk from the station.  

Remember, you'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the Opal Travel app ahead of time.

If you’re driving, travel with your group and pre-book stadium parking via Ticketmaster or use nearby local parking. Traffic may be heavier than usual as fans travel to and from the game. Allow extra travel time, you can find real-time updates on traffic conditions livetraffic.com.  

Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city. 

M1 Metro North West & Bankstown Planned Trackwork – Saturday 21 to Sunday 22 February 

  • Metro services do not run between Tallawong and Sydenham.  
  • Buses replace services between Tallawong and Chatswood only.  
  • For travel to and from Waterloo use local buses or trains from Redfern. 
  • Use trains between Epping or Chatswood, the City and Sydenham 

At Epping or Chatswood, connect with a train service to Hornsby, where fans can connect with a replacement bus service to Broadmeadow

The closest station to McDonald Jones Stadium is Broadmeadow on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line. From the station, the stadium is approximately a 15 to 20-minute walk away (1.5km). 

Trackwork

Planned trackwork is taking place on Sunday 22 February on the following lines and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner

  • M1 Metro North West & Bankstown Line: Metro services will not run between Tallawong and Sydenham. Buses replace services between Tallawong and Chatswood only. For travel to and from Waterloo use local buses or trains from Redfern. Use trains between Epping or Chatswood, the City and Sydenham. Buses also replace T4 Eastern Suburbs Line trains between Central and Bondi Junction. 
  • T1 North Shore Line: Sydney Metro trackwork may affect how you travel. Metro services do not run between Tallawong and Sydenham. Buses replace services between Tallawong and Chatswood only. Use trains between Chatswood, the City and Sydenham 
  • T1 Western Line: Buses replace trains between Emu Plains and Parramatta. Trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond and Blacktown, and between Parramatta and the City. 
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: Buses replace trains between Central and Bondi Junction, but do not stop at Martin Place. Trains run to a changed timetable between Cronulla, Waterfall and the City Circle, with some making extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. Change at: Sydenham for metro services to Central, Martin Place or Gadigal (Town Hall), Central for buses to Kings Cross and Edgecliff, or metro services to Martin Place or Town Hall for express buses to Bondi Junction. From 6.30am to 12.15pm, some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. Some trains start or end at Hurstville or Sutherland. You may need to change trains to continue your journey. Trains may leave from different platforms, please check indicator screens before boarding. From 1pm to 4pm, trains do not stop at Wolli Creek but make an extra stop at Arncliffe.  Buses run between Sydenham, Wolli Creek and Arncliffe. Change at Arncliffe or Sydenham for a bus to Wolli Creek or change at Central for a T8 Airport train if you have luggage or accessibility needs. 
  • T5 Cumberland Line: Buses replace trains between Blacktown and Parramatta. Trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond and Blacktown, and between Parramatta or Leppington and the City via Granville. You may need to change services to continue your journey. 
  • T8 Airport & South Line: Trains between Sydenham and the City Circle run to a changed timetable. Trains via the Airport run to the normal timetable. From 1pm to 4pm, trackwork at Wolli Creek may affect how you travel to T4 or South Coast Line stations. T4 trains do not stop at Wolli Creek. Buses run between Sydenham, Wolli Creek and Arncliffe. Change at Central if you have luggage or accessibility needs. 
  • T9 Northern Line: Buses replace metro services between Tallawong and Chatswood. For travel to T1 North Shore Line stations change at Hornsby, not Epping. Change at Epping for buses towards Tallawong or Chatswood. 
  • Blue Mountains Line: Buses replace trains between Bathurst and Parramatta. T1 Western Line trains run between Parramatta and the City, to a changed timetable. 
  • Central Coast & Newcastle Line: Most trains run between Central Coast & Newcastle Line stations and Strathfield only. Change trains at Strathfield to continue your journey. Buses replace metro services between Tallawong and Chatswood. For travel to T1 North Shore Line stations change at Hornsby, not Epping. 
  • South Coast Line: Trains run to a changed timetable between South Coast Line stations and Hurstville only. T4 Illawarra Line trains run to a changed timetable between Hurstville and the City Circle. Buses replace trains between Central and Bondi Junction, but do not stop at Martin Place. Change at: Hurstville for T4 trains towards the City, Central for buses to Kings Cross and Edgecliff, or metro services to Martin Place or Town Hall for express buses to Bondi Junction. From 6.30am to 12.15pm, some trains make extra stops between Sutherland and Hurstville. From 1pm to 4pm, trains do not stop at Wolli Creek but make extra stops at Arncliffe and Sydenham.  Buses run between Sydenham, Wolli Creek and Arncliffe. The closest bus stops to McDonald Jones Stadium are on Turton Road and Lambton Road. Regular routes 13, 23, 25, 26 and 27 run towards the stadium. Check Newcastle Transport for more bus network information.

Ferries run between Stockton and Queens Wharf approximately every 20 minutes.   

At Queens Wharf, change for a light rail service to Newcastle Interchange then connect with trains to Broadmeadow. Alternatively, from King Street near Perkins Street, you can catch a route 13 bus to Lambton Road to get within short walking distance of the stadium.

Newcastle Light Rail services run from 5am to 1am daily between Newcastle Interchange in Wickham and Pacific Park in Newcastle East. With six convenient stops, it’s easy to get around Newcastle’s city centre and connect with train, bus and ferry services.  

Catch a light rail service to Newcastle Interchange and change for a train to Broadmeadow, where the stadium is within short walking distance.

Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads approaching the stadium as fans travel to and from the match during peak travel times. Carpool with your group and allow extra travel time on roads including Turton Road and Griffiths Road.  

For passenger drop-offs, use the allocated 10-minute loading zone in the McDonald Jones Stadium car park. Entry is via the driveway off Turton Road.

McDonald Jones Stadium's taxi and rideshare pick-up/drop-off point is located at Young Road, Broadmeadow.

Pre-paid parking on game days and major events is available only for vehicles with a pre-paid parking ticket. Pre-paid parking tickets can be purchased via Ticketmaster online, by phone or by visiting Ticketmaster box office at McDonald Jones Stadium. Visit Ticketmaster – McDonald Jones Stadium.  

Disabled parking areas have been designated in close proximity to each of McDonald Jones Stadiums accessible entries. To purchase a Mobility parking please phone Ticketmaster on 136 100 or visit the Ticketmaster box office at McDonald Jones Stadium.   

Drop-off zone: use the allocated 10-minute loading zone in the McDonald Jones Stadium car park. Entry is via the driveway off Turton Road.
