School travel for bushfire impacted customers
This guide provides information and links for people who have been impacted by bushfires and need immediate help with new and existing School Student Transport Scheme and School Drive Subsidy applications.
Updating your details
What to do if your living circumstances have changed
If your living circumstances have changed, existing school travel pass holders should re-apply online to update their details. If you’re unable to re-apply online, you can call us on 131 500 and press option 5.
For rural/regional students, once we approve the update, your local transport operator will send a new school travel pass to your child’s school. In some cases, the operator may send the pass to your nominated postal address. Please contact the transport operator directly to find out where the pass will be sent.
If your child has an existing School Opal card, we’ll apply the update to the existing card which should be tapped on within 60 days to complete the update.
What to do if we process your update and you’re no longer eligible
If you are no longer eligible but there are financial/family circumstances due to the recent bushfires, contact us online and let us know about your situation and we will review your application.
Replacing a lost or damaged pass
For rural and regional students, contact your local transport operator to request a replacement.
If your child has a lost or damaged School Opal card, let us know through our online feedback form so we can issue a replacement and waive the $10 replacement fee for bushfire impacted customers. You can also call 131 500 and press option 5 if you are unable to contact us online.
Tracking new and existing applications

At the end of each semester your child’s school will provide us attendance records so we can calculate your subsidy payment.
You’ll receive payment after your child’s school has provided us attendance records from the previous semester and we’ve calculated your payment amount.
This means payments for the second semester usually occur in February and first semester payments usually occur in August.
Please contact us for any enquiries or if you would like to provide feedback.
