Upcoming trackwork on Sydney Metro

To get Sydney Metro ready for the extension from Sydenham to Bankstown, essential testing will take place during a series of planned line closures over the coming months.

These closures allow teams to safely connect the new Southwest Metro with the existing M1 Metro Line, ahead of services starting in the second half of 2026.

During this time, metro services and systems along the southwest corridor will be tested to ensure they work seamlessly with the M1 line and the operations control centre. This testing is a critical step to make sure the extension is safe and reliable before opening, delivering faster and more frequent metro services to southwest Sydney.

Plan ahead and allow extra travel time.

Check the Future Trackwork Calendar to see what’s planned across the Sydney Trains and Sydney Metro network.
