Trackwork affecting travel in the City

From 9.50pm Friday 23 to Sunday 25 January, trackwork will affect some trains around the City.

  • Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 January: Metro services do not run due to testing activities for Southwest Metro.
  • Saturday 24 to Monday 26 January: trackwork will affect trains between Cabramatta and Granville.
  • Australia Day Monday 26 January
    • On Monday Metro services will run every 10 minutes until 12.30am
    • Most train services run as normal with some additional services running to and from Circular Quay. Trackwork on some lines may affect how you travel. More>

Sydney Trains trackwork

  • From 10pm Friday to Sunday:
    • Trains do not run on the City Circle, or between Central and Wynyard.
    • For travel around the City use T4 trains, light rail or local buses.
    • L2 and L3 light rail services run between Central and Circular Quay.
    • Trackwork also affects trains on other lines.
    • Saturday and Sunday, Sydney Metro services do not run between Tallawong and Sydenham. Buses replace services between Tallawong and Chatswood only.

T1 North Shore Line

  • From 10.20pm Friday: 
    • Trains run between Berowra and Wynyard only, to a changed timetable. 
    • Trains do not run between Wynyard and Central, or on the City Circle.
    • Change at Wynyard for light rail or local buses to continue your journey.

T1 Western Line

  • From 10.20pm Friday: 
    • Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. 
  • Saturday and Sunday, trains run between:
    • Richmond and Olympic Park. Change at Parramatta or Lidcombe for trains towards Central
    • Penrith and Central, platforms 1-14 only, making extra stops at Homebush, Flemington and Burwood.

T2 Leppington & Inner West Line

  • From 9.50pm Friday: 
    • Buses replace Inner West trains between Ashfield and Central.
    • Change at Strathfield for express trains to Central, or buses if you are travelling to stations between Summer Hill and Macdonaldtown.

    • Buses replace trains between Cabramatta and Granville, and Inner West trains between Strathfield and Central. More>>
  • Express trains run between Strathfield and Central. Change at:
    • Cabramatta for buses to Canley Vale, Fairfield, Yennora, Guildford and Merrylands, or
    • Lidcombe for trains towards Central or T1 Western Line stations.
  • Monday 26 January: 
    • Buses replace trains between Cabramatta and Granville.

  • From 9.50pm Friday: 
    • Buses replace Inner West trains between Ashfield and Central.
    • Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Leppington and Ashfield via Granville or Regents Park.
    • Change at Strathfield for express trains to Central, or buses if you are travelling to stations between Summer Hill and Macdonaldtown.

  • Saturday to Monday: Buses replace trains between Cabramatta and Granville.

    • Lidcombe for trains towards Schofields or Leppington
    • Cabramatta or Granville for buses to Canley Vale, Fairfield, Yennora, Guildford or Merrylands.

T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown Line

  • Saturday to Monday: trains run to a changed timetable and reduced frequency, every 30 minutes.

  • Friday from 10pm: Trains via the Airport start and end at Central. T8 trains do not run between Sydenham and the City. More>>
  • Saturday and Sunday: Most trains run to a changed timetable between Macarthur and Sydenham, or between Revesby and Central via the Airport.

    • Revesby for trains to Central via the Airport
    • Sydenham for T4 trains towards Bondi Junction.

Sydney Metro trackwork

  • Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 January: 
    • Metro services do not run between Tallawong and Sydenham.
    • Use replacement bus services between Tallawong and Chatswood, and trains between Epping or Chatswood, the City and Sydenham.
    • For travel to and from Waterloo use local buses or trains from Redfern.
    • Trackwork also affects trains in the City. For travel between Epping or Chatswood and Sydenham use:
      • T9 trains between Epping and Central or T1 trains between Chatswood and Wynyard
      • L2 or L3 light rail services between Wynyard and Central
      • T4 trains between Martin Place and Sydenham.
