Important event information

Large crowds are expected to view the convoy along the route as it returns for its 14th year. Over 1,500 trucks and motorbikes are expected to make up the convey and travel 70kms from Appin to Albion Park. This year, the finish site will relocate to Illawarra Regional Airport from Croome Road Sporting Complex in Albion Park. The first vehicles will start to arrive from 9:15am.

The best way to get to and from the event is by train as the closest station to the Illawarra Regional Airport is Albion Park on the South Coast Line. The Airport is opposite the station on the Princes Highway and traffic controllers will be on-site to assist the movement of pedestrians crossing the highway to and from the station.

All South Coast Line services stopping at Albion Park between 08:00 and 16:30 will be built up to 8 carriages.

Trackwork

Trackwork is taking place between 02:00 Saturday 17 November and 02:00 Monday 19 November and may affect how you travel to and from the event.

To note: As of Sunday 30 September, the Epping to Chatswood rail line has temporarily closed for upgrades for around 7 months before Sydney Metro Northwest services begin in 2019. The new high-frequency bus service, Station Link, replaces trains between Epping and Chatswood. For more information on Station Link, visit transportnsw.info.

Trackwork is carried out on an ongoing basis to maintain the safety, reliability and efficiency of the Sydney Trains network. Trackwork may affect how you travel to and from events. For train service disruption information, check travel alerts or plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

Premier Illawarra operates regular weekend services in the Wollongong and Illawarra Region and make stops on Princes Highway including routes 37, 51, 57, and 76. See Premier Illawarra bus services for more details.

Additional bus services will be running for the event including:

  • From Shellharbour Square to Illawarra Regional Airport
  • From Shellharbour Stockland (inside Shellharbour Square at the Bus Zone in the car park) to Illawarra Regional Airport
  • From the Park N Ride area to Illawarra Regional Airport.

A Park N Ride service will be running for the event. The public car park is located on the corner of Croom Rd and Tongarra Rd, with entry on the Croom Rd Side, and Exit on the Tongarra Rd Side. Park your car and catch a bus from the Park N Ride Entrance gate to the event.

For bus service disruption information, check travel alerts or plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

Heavy traffic is expected on approaches to Albion Park on the Princes Hwy in both directions as large crowds cross the road from the train station to the festival site at the airport.

Traffic will be heavy on approaches to Illawarra Regional Airport during the event. Road closures and changed traffic conditions will be implemented in the area for the convoy and motorists are advised to use designated carparks as the general admission carpark at the airport will be closed to the public.

For the latest traffic information visit Live Traffic NSW or download a real-time traffic app.

For details of taxi networks servicing the local area, contact Wollongong Radio Cabs on 4229 9311 or visit NSW Taxi Council

There will be no general admission parking available at the venue.
