Important Event Information
Traffic on roads approaching and within Parramatta CBD will be heavier than normal as up to 30,000 people travel to and from DripWorld at Parramatta Park and a series of soccer games at neighbouring Bankwest Stadium throughout the day.
Event goers are encouraged to allow extra travel time through the area and plan to arrive early.
More ways to pay
If you have a contactless-enabled debit or credit card or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on metro, train, light rail and ferry services, and coming soon to bus services, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.
Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Tallawong Station and Chatswood Station.
Metro services start running from the early morning until late. Change at Epping to connect with trains to Parramatta.
Last services from Chatswood to Tallawong leave at 12.45am on Thursday nights and at 1.45am on Friday and Saturday nights.
You can use your Opal card or accepted contactless payment method on Sydney Metro services.
The closest stations to Parramatta Park are Westmead and Parramatta. Trains run to either station every 10 to 15 minutes on weekends.
- From Westmead Station, the park is a 10 minute walk away. If you're coming from the western suburbs alight at Westmead.
- From Parramatta Station, the park is about a 20 minute walk away. If you're coming from the east alight at Parramatta.
Trackwork is taking place from 02:00 Saturday 31 August and 02:00 Monday 2 September and may affect how you travel to and from the event:
- T1 Western Line: Some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern.
- T2 Inner West & Leppington Line and T5 Cumberland Line: Buses replace trains between Leppington and Liverpool.
- T3 Bankstown Line: Some trains may run to a changed timetable.
- T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line and South Coast Line: Buses replace trains between Central and Bondi Junction.
- T8 Airport & South Line: Buses replace trains between Macarthur and East Hills.
- Southern Highlands Line: Buses replace trains between Goulburn, Moss Vale and Campbelltown.
Trackwork is carried out on an ongoing basis to maintain the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the Sydney Trains network. A free shuttle bus (Route 900) runs in a continuous loop around Parramatta CBD making stops near Parramatta Park including Macquarie St (Stop 3), O’Connell St (Stop 4) and Leagues Club on O’Connell St (Stop 5). On Saturday, shuttle buses run approximately every 10 minutes from 8am until 4pm. See the Shuttle Bus Map.
Plenty of regular route bus services run to and from Parramatta Interchange which is within a 15 minute walking distance of Parramatta Park including route 549, 550, 600, 601, 609, 625, 665 and T80.
The nearest wharf is at Rydalmere while Parramatta Wharf is closed for upgrades from Tuesday 30 April for about six months, weather and conditions permitting. See Parramatta Wharf Upgrades for more details.
Light rail services run between Central Station and Dulwich Hill with stops at popular CBD and Inner West destinations. Change at Central to connect with a T1 Western Line train service to Parramatta.
Roads around Parramatta will be busy with a football game on at the neighbouring Bankwest Stadium. If you have to drive, allow extra travel time and pre-book parking where possible.
There will be no access for general vehicle traffic to Parramatta Park on Saturday 31 August.
Motorists should also exercise caution as pedestrian activity will be high on roads between Parramatta Interchange and the Parramatta Park as crowds arrive and leave the area.
The widened M4 between Parramatta and Homebush and the new M4 Tunnels between Homebush and Haberfield allows motorists to bypass more than 50 sets of traffic lights on Parramatta Road. A secure taxi rank is located at Parramatta Westfield on Fitzwilliam Street.
An alternate taxi rank is located on the eastern side of Villiers St between Ross St and Victoria Rd.

No parking will be available at Parramatta Park for the event, attendees are encouraged to catch public transport instead. There will be no access for general vehicle traffic to Parramatta Park on Saturday 31 August.
Parking is expected to fill early around Parramatta with another event on at Bankwest Stadium. If you have to drive, pre-book parking where possible and allow extra travel time.
