When catching public transport, plan ahead and allow extra time.

It’s mandatory to wear a face mask when travelling on services in Greater Sydney, Blue Mountains, Central Coast and Wollongong areas from 5pm Thursday 6 May until 12.01am Monday 10 May. It’s still strongly recommended to wear a face mask when travelling on services around East Wagga Wagga. You can also check real-time capacity indicators when planning your trip or boarding services. Remember you'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling to and from the event on public transport. Register your details via the Opal website or app ahead of time.

Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport services including metro, trains, buses ferries and light rail, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.

The closest station to McDonalds Park is Wagga Wagga Station. XPT services leave from Central station at 07:40 on weekends and run direct to Wagga Wagga, arriving at 13:53.

Alternatively, catch a NSW Train Link service to Canberra Station and then connect with a coach service to Wagga Wagga. Note: you will need to pre-book your spot on NSW Train Link services.

Trackwork

From 2am Saturday 8 May until 2am Monday 10 May trackwork is taking place on the following lines:

  • T1 North Shore Line: From 10.30pm Satuday until 3.30am Sunday trains run to a changed timetable between Berowra and Hornsby. Central Coast & Newcastle Line trains are replaced by buses between Central and Wyong.
  • T1 Western Line: Buses replace trains between Lidcombe and Strathfield. Trains run to a changed timetable - Check trackwork travel alerts for more detailed information 
  • T2 Inner West & South Line: Buses replace trains between Lidcombe and Strathfield. Trains run to a changed timetable - Check trackwork travel alerts for more detailed information 
  • T3 Bankstown Line: Some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern, with extra trains running between Lidcombe and Lindfield via Sydenham.
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line South Coast Line: Daily from 5.30am until 11am, trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. Some trains start or end at Hurstville or Sutherland. You may need to change trains to continue your journey. 
  • T5 Cumberland Line: Extra trains run between Richmond and Leppington.
  • T7 Olympic Park Line: Trains run to a changed timetable between Olympic Park and Lidcombe, then continue to Penrith or Leppington. If you are travelling to the City change at Lidcombe for trains via the T3 Bankstown Line. Buses replace all trains between Lidcombe and Strathfield.
  • T9 Northern Line: Extra trains run between Rhodes and the City Circle. On Saturday, from 7.30pm until 3.30am, buses replace trains between Hornsby and Epping.
  • Blue Mountains Line: Buses replace trains between Blacktown and Central. Trains from Blacktown towards Blue Mountains Line stations leave 30 minutes later than normal. Some trains between Bathurst and Lithgow also run to a changed timetable.
  • Central Coast & Newcastle Line: On Saturday From 6pm until 3.30am, buses replace trains from Central to Wyong. From 7pm until 3.30am, buses replace trains from Wyong to Central.
  • Hunter Line: On Saturday, from 6pm until 3.45am, buses replace trains between Telarah and Newcastle Interchange.
  • South Coast Line: Daily from 5.30am until 11am, some trains run to a changed timetable and make extra stops between Sutherland and Hurstville. On Saturday from 11.30am until 1pm, trains to the City make an extra stop at Mortdale.

Regular bus route 960 travels through Wagga Wagga and makes stops on Lake Albert Rd which is within walking distance of McDonalds Park.

Roads approaching McDonalds Park including Kooringal Rd, Hammond Ave, Copland St and Lake Albert Rd are expected to be busier than usual as crowds travel to the game.
