Finish 16:00

Important event information

Over 40,000 people are expected to visit the annual Festival of the Winds, traffic will be very heavy on roads within and approaching Bondi Beach.

Leave the car at home and catch public transport as parking is extremely limited around Bondi Beach and clearways will be in effect.

Additional bus services will run between the city, Bondi Junction and Bondi Beach to get you there and home again. Be patient and allow extra time as queues for buses may be longer than usual. Extra trains will also be running between Central and Bondi Junction.

If you can, plan to arrive before the event starts and leave later in the evening to avoid the peak crowds.

Remember, you'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the Opal Travel app ahead of time.

Traffic will be heavy and special event clearway parking restrictions will be in effect on roads in the area. See the clearway and road closure map (pdf 1.1MB). You can find real-time updates on traffic conditions at livetraffic.com.

More ways to pay

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.
