Important Travel Advice

With more than 40,000 people expected at this all important qualifying game for the Socceroos, fans are urged to plan their trip and consider the public transport options to avoid heavy weeknight peak traffic.  

  • Public transport is the best way to get to Sydney Football Stadium with frequent light rail and buses running to Moore Park.  
  • Travel on all modes of public transport is included in your ticket to the game, simply show your ticket to transport staff when boarding services. 
  • Trains and Metro services run regularly to the City where you can connect with frequent light rail services to Moore Park. The Moore Park light rail stop is located a short walk across from Sydney Football Stadium. Plenty of regular route buses also make stops along Anzac Parade and Oxford Street nearby. 
  • Consider walking between Central and Moore Park via Devonshire Street and the Albert ‘Tibby’ Cotter Walkway to avoid the queues for transport services before and after the match. See the Moore Park walking route map (pdf 550KB) to find your way. 

If you have to drive, allow plenty of extra travel time as traffic will be heavy during the already busy weeknight peak and parking is expected to fill quickly. You can find real-time traffic conditions at livetraffic.com.  

Parking is available near Sydney Football Stadium at the Entertainment Quarter Wilson car park, EP2 & EP3 grass car parks on Driver Avenue, and Sydney Boys & Girls High School car park off Cleveland Street. A flat rate event parking fee will apply. 

Match Ticket Entitlements

Valid pre-purchased tickets to AFC Asian Qualifiers at Sydney Football Stadium include travel to and from Moore Park on the following transport services – just show your event ticket to transport staff when boarding:

  • Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink Intercity services (non-booked services bounded by Bomaderry, Goulburn, Bathurst, Scone and Dungog stations)
  • Sydney Metro services
  • Sydney metropolitan and outer metropolitan buses
  • Sydney, Parramatta and Newcastle Light Rail services
  • Sydney and Newcastle Ferries

Remember to keep your event ticket safe for your return journey or you'll need to use your Opal card or contactless payment method, as you must have a valid ticket when travelling on public transport. Your match ticket is valid on the modes of public transport listed above until 4am the following day.

Note: an additional train station access fee applies for travel to or from Domestic and International Airport stations. The access fee is not covered by your event ticket travel entitlements.

Transport Park&Ride Car Parks

Park for free when you catch public transport. Transport Park&Ride provides up to 18 hours free parking each day. All you have to do is complete a public transport trip. Located close to public transport hubs, Park&Ride car parks help you connect more easily to train, bus and ferry services.

Tickets to Socceroos v Indonesia at Sydney Football Stadium include travel on transport and free Park&Ride parking. When leaving the car park use the intercom button at the exit gate to speak with the operator and show your event ticket.

If you use a Transport Connect account to access Park&Ride, the boom gate will automatically open as you leave the car park so you’ll need to request a refund in your account.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city. 

The M1 Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services in both directions between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham. Metro services start running from early morning, every 5 to 10 minutes, until late at night. 

Change at Central to connect with light rail services towards Moore Park from Chalmers Street.

The closest stations to Sydney Football Stadium are Central and Bondi Junction.

From Central change for light rail replacement buses to get to Moore Park leaving from Chalmers Street. Alternatively, consider walking between Central and Moore Park via Devonshire Street and the Albert ‘Tibby’ Cotter Walkway. See the Moore Park walking route map (pdf 550KB) to find your way. 

From Bondi Junction, catch one of the many regular route buses from the Interchange to Oxford Street to get within walking distance of the stadium. 

Trackwork

Planned trackwork is taking place on Thursday 20 March on the following lines and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner.  

  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: From 9.50pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Central and Bondi Junction. Trackwork buses do not leave from Martin Place Station. Trains run to a changed timetable between Waterfall or Cronulla and the City Circle. Some trains make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville Change at; Central for buses to Kings Cross and Edgecliff, or metro services to Martin Place and Town Hall for express buses to Bondi Junction.  
  • T8 Airport & South Line: From 10.20pm to 1.30am, T8 trains do not run between Sydenham and the City. T4 trains run between Sydenham and the City Circle, making extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. T8 trains run between Macarthur and the City via the Airport only.
  • Blue Mountains Line: From 7.20pm to 3.30am, buses replace trains from Lithgow to Penrith. The last train from the Blue Mountains leaves Mount Victoria at 6:56pm, arriving Central at 9:17pm. From 9.10pm to 3am, buses replace trains from Penrith to Lithgow. The last train to the Blue Mountains leaves Central at 7:09, arriving Mount Victoria at 9:29pm. Trains run between Penrith and Central, some to a changed timetable. 
  • Hunter Line: From 4am to 11.15am, buses replace trains between Scone or Muswellbrook and Maitland. Trains run to the normal timetable between Maitland and Newcastle Interchange. 
  • South Coast Line: From 9.50pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Central and Bondi Junction. Trackwork buses do not leave from Martin Place Station. Trains run to a changed timetable between South Coast Line stations and Central, platforms 1-12. Change at Central for buses to Kings Cross, Edgecliff and Bondi Junction or metro services to Martin Place.

A number of regular Sydney Buses service stops along Anzac Parade near the precinct, including routes 339, 373, 374 and 396. From Bondi Junction Interchange, catch routes 333, 352 or 440 to Oxford Street or catch route 355 buses to Lang Road to get within short walking distance of the stadium.   

Express event shuttle buses will run from Moore Park back to Central after the game.

Keep in mind that buses and light rail services will be busy. Consider walking between Central and Moore Park via Devonshire Street and the Albert ‘Tibby’ Cotter Walkway to minimise wait times for transport services. See the Moore Park walking route map (pdf 550KB) to find your way.

L1 Dulwich Hill Line

L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

From Central, change for light rail to Moore Park leaving from Chalmers Street.   

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines

L2 Randwick light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Catch L2 or L3 light rail services to Moore Park. The Moore Park stop is located along Anzac Parade just south of Sydney Football Stadium.

Additional light rail services will run before and after the game. Queues are expected, so be patient and allow plenty of extra time, particularly when leaving the stadium. L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services run between Carlingford and Westmead via Parramatta CBD. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

Alight at Parramatta Square and connect with trains to Central from Parramatta Station. From Central, catch a L2 or L3 Line service to Moore Park. The Moore Park stop is located along Anzac Parade just south of Sydney Football Stadium.

Passengers are reminded that trams can’t stop quickly or easily – so please stop, listen and look around for trams and use designated pedestrian crossings.

If you have to drive, carpool with your group and allow plenty of extra travel time as traffic will be heavy during the already busy weeknight peak. Fans are encouraged to leave the car at home and catch public transport to avoid traffic delays. 

Changed traffic conditions: 

  • Driver Avenue will be partially closed outside the stadium from 5:15pm and will reopen once crowds have safely cleared the area.  
  • No through-traffic will be available on Driver Avenue, however access to EP2 Kippax car park will be maintained via Moore Park Road and access to EP3 grass car park and drop-off areas maintained from Lang Road.

The closest taxi rank is located on Errol Flynn Boulevard (near the Hordern Pavilion). 

If you’re using rideshare to get to and from the game, use Errol Flynn Boulevard, Driver Avenue, Moore Park Rd or Oatley Rd for drop off/pick up locations.  

After the game, there may be restrictions on rideshare pick up locations due to heavy traffic in the area. Select a pick-up location away from the stadium.

Moore Park Car Parks

Parking will be in high demand and will fill quickly. Carpool with your group and aim to arrive early to secure a parking space. 

  • Entertainment Quarter Wilson car park: Open 24 hours. Flat rate event parking fees apply. Entry via Errol Flynn Boulevard from Lang Road. 
  • Kippax Park (EP2) grass car park (limited capacity due to upgrade works): Open from 5pm. Entry via the northern end of Driver Ave from Moore Park Road. 
  • Showground Field (EP3) grass car park: Open from 5pm. Cashless, flat rate event parking fees apply. Entry on Driver Avenue via Lang Road. 
  • Sydney Boys High School and Sydney Girls High School: Car park open from around 5pm. Cashless, flat rate event parking fees apply. Entry via Cleveland Street. Use the Anzac Parade pedestrian bridge to get to and from the SCG.

Special Event Clearways  

Special event clearways will be in place on roads in Moore Park and surrounding areas from 3pm to 11pm on sections of Albion Street, Lang Road and Moore Park Road, and from 6am to 11pm on Cleveland Street.  

From 6am to 11pm 

  • Cleveland Street between South Dowling Street and City Road (southern side) 
  • Cleveland Street between Abercrombie Street and South Dowling Street (northern side) 
  • Fitzroy Street between South Dowling Street and Bourke Street (northern side) 

From 3pm to 11pm 

  • Albion Street between Bourke Street and Flinders Street (both sides) 
  • Lang Road between Anzac Parade and Errol Flynn Boulevard (northern side) 
  • Moore Park Road between Flinders Street and Greens Road (northern side) 
  • Moore Park Road between Cook Road and Poate Road (southern side) 
  • Moore Park Road at Oatley Rd 

Clearways are strict no-parking zones and also apply to local residents and Mobility Scheme Permit holders. Check signs before parking as vehicles left in special event clearways will be towed and a towing fee applies. If your vehicle is towed, you can search your vehicle registration at the Find My Car website to find its new location or alternatively call 132 701 to speak to an operator.
