Important Travel Advice
Olympic Park will be very busy over the Easter Long Weekend with thousands of people expected at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
Those attending the Gearbox event at Qudos Bank Arena are encouraged to leave the car at home as plenty of extra transport services will be running.
Take advantage of the many additional express and limited stop trains running for the Easter Show from Central and key western line stations.
Remember, you'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the Opal Travel app ahead of time.
If you have to drive, travel with your group and pre-book your parking online – available until 11:59pm the night before the event.
Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads approaching the precinct as attendees travel to and from the event during weeknight evening peak. You can find real-time updates on traffic conditions at livetraffic.com.
Opal
You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.
Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.
More ways to pay
If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.
Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city.
The M1 Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services in both directions between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham. Metro services start running from early morning, every 5 to 10 minutes, until late at night.
Change at Epping or Central for trains towards Lidcombe then Olympic Park.

The closest station to Qudos Bank Arena is Olympic Park.

Trains run regularly to Lidcombe where you can head to Platform Zero for a direct train to Olympic Park, running every 10 minutes until late.
Trackwork
Planned trackwork is taking place on Saturday 19 April on the following lines and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner.
- T1 Western Line: Richmond trains run between Richmond and Olympic Park only. Change trains at Parramatta to continue your journey towards the City.
- T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: Buses replace trains between Waterfall and Sutherland, and between Central and Bondi Junction. Trackwork buses do not leave from Martin Place Station. Trains run to a changed timetable between Cronulla, Sutherland and North Sydney, with some making extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. Change at; Sydenham or Central for metro services to Martin Place, Central for buses to Kings Cross and Edgecliff or metro services to Martin Place and change at Town Hall for express buses to Bondi Junction.
- T8 Airport & South Line: Trains will not run between Sydenham and the City Circle. T4 Illawarra Line trains run between Cronulla, Sydenham and North Sydney, making extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. Trains via the Airport run to the normal timetable.
- South Coast Line: Buses replace trains between Dapto, Port Kembla and Sutherland, and between Central and Bondi Junction. Trackwork buses do not leave from Martin Place Station. Trains run between Bomaderry, Kiama and Dapto, some to a changed timetable. T4 Illawarra Line trains run to a changed timetable between Sutherland and North Sydney. Change at Central for buses to Kings Cross and Edgecliff, or metro services to Martin Place; change at Town Hall for express buses to Bondi Junction.

Regular route buses
The following Sydney bus services run to Olympic Park:
- Route 525 runs between Parramatta and Sydney Olympic Park via Newington.
- Route 526 runs between Strathfield and Rhodes Shopping Centre via Sydney Olympic Park precinct and wharf.
- Route 533 runs between Sydney Olympic Park and Chatswood via Rhodes & North Ryde.
Bus diversions
From 5am Friday 11 April to 1am Wednesday 23 April buses in Olympic Park will be using different stops and routes while roads are closed in the precinct for the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
Stops on Park St at Olympic Park Station and on Dawn Fraser Ave will be closed.
- Routes 525, 526, 533 and N81 will use alternative stops on Edwin Flack Ave and a temporary stop on Dawn Fraser Ave at Park St near the train station (Stop ID 212799).
- On Friday 11 April only, school service Routes 665s, 760s and 761s will use a temporary stop on Dawn Fraser Ave at Park St near the train station (Stop ID 212799).

The closest wharf to Qudos Bank Arena is Sydney Olympic Park Wharf. There is a connecting 526 bus to the venue or alternatively it is approximately a 40-minute walk (3.6km) from the wharf.
F3 Parramatta River services run regularly to Olympic Park, but services are very popular and may reach capacity. Keep this in mind if you’re planning on catching an F3 Parramatta River service. Plan your trip and allow plenty of extra travel time or consider the alternative public transport options available.
F3 Parramatta River ferries between Parramatta and Rydalmere may be affected by low tide and replaced by buses, check for updates here.

L1 Dulwich Hill Line

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines
L2 Randwick Line light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford Line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line
L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services run between Carlingford and Westmead via Parramatta CBD. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.
Alight at Parramatta Square and connect with a train service towards Lidcombe, then Olympic Park from Parramatta Station.
Passengers are reminded that trams can’t stop quickly or easily – so please stop, listen and look around for trams and use designated pedestrian crossings.

If you’re driving to the event, travel with your group and allow plenty of extra time on the roads as traffic will be heavier than usual approaching Olympic Park over the Easter Long Weekend with thousands of people attending the Royal Easter Show.
Heavy traffic is expected on the M4 Mwy, Homebush Bay Dr, Concord Rd, Silverwater Rd, Centenary Drive, Lane Cove Rd and Epping Rd.
If you’re driving, travel with your group, allow extra travel time and pre-book your parking ahead of time to secure a space – available until 11:59pm the night before the event unless sold out prior.
To get to your carpark and avoid the heavy traffic congestion expected at the Homebush Bay Drive roundabout, use Silverwater Road, Holker Street and Hill Road.
Road Closures

- Showground Road from Murray Rose Avenue to Grand Parade.
- Grand Parade from Olympic Boulevard to Australia Avenue.
Friday 11 April to Tuesday 22 April 2025 inclusive:
- Kevin Coombs Avenue from Australia Avenue to Pondage Link.
- Marjorie Jackson Parkway from Wentworth Common Carpark to Australia Avenue (Checkpoint, authorised vehicles only).
- No right turn available onto Holker Bus way from Marjorie Jackson Parkway.
- No left turn available from Holker Busway onto Marjorie Jackson Parkway.
- Olympic Boulevard from Kevin Coombs to Sarah Durack Avenue.
- Showground Road from Murray Rose Avenue to Dawn Fraser Avenue.
- Murray Rose Avenue from Showground Road to Gate 15 (fixed closure) and Park Street (Checkpoint, business access).
- Dawn Fraser Avenue from Edwin Flack Avenue to Showground Road (Accessible drop-off / pick-up and Show drop-off / pick-up – Edwin Flack Avenue to Fig Grove).
- Dawn Fraser Avenue from Showground Road to Park Street.
- Dawn Fraser Avenue from Park Street to Australia Avenue (Eastbound only)
- Park Street from Dawn Fraser Avenue to Herb Elliott Avenue (northound only)
- Murray Rose Avenue from Park Street to the entrance or Carpark P6D

Olympic Park car parks
Olympic Park will be very busy over the Easter Long Weekend with thousands of people visiting the precinct for the Royal Easter show.
Gearbox attendees are urged to plan their trip and consider the public transport options to avoid the heavy traffic and demand for parking.
If you must drive, it is essential that you pre-book your parking online ahead of time to secure a space – available until 11:59pm the night before the event unless sold out prior. A flat rate $35 parking fee will apply.
Alternatively, consider parking at a nearby train station commuter car park and continuing the trip to Olympic Park by train.
If you have pre-booked a space, follow the directions of staff and have your parking ticket ready to show at the car park entry. Carpool with your group and allow plenty of additional travel time. Use Silverwater Road, Holker Street and Hill Road to get to your car park and avoid the heavy traffic congestion expected at the Homebush Bay Drive roundabout.
Train Station Commuter Parking
A number of key train stations have large commuter car parks, so consider parking at a station near you then continuing your journey to Olympic Park by train.
- T1 Western Line: Seven Hills, Blacktown, Rooty Hill, St Marys, Emu Plains and Penrith.
- T1 North Shore & T9 Northern Line: Gordon, Thornleigh and Concord West.
- T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: Sutherland and Kogarah.
- T8 Airport & South Line: Padstow, Revesby, Fairfield, Warwick Farm, Glenfield, Holsworthy, Macarthur, Campbelltown and Leumeah.
