More bus services for Sutherland Shire in the new year

More than 65 additional weekly services will be added on bus route 987 in the Sutherland Shire as part of the NSW Government’s Growth Services Program.

The Cronulla to Kurnell route will see improved service frequency on every day of the week, including extended hours in the evenings.

This is a key travel route between Kurnell and Cronulla, allowing for connections to T4 train services, as well as with Cronulla and Silver Beaches.

The extra services aim to encourage more people out of their cars and onto public transport by providing more frequent services, allowing for more choice and flexibility around travel.

Currently there are service gaps during off-peak periods of up to two hours and these improvements will address this with a more consistent service across the board.

From early January next year, services will run at least every hour across the whole day on weekdays as well as on weekends. There will also be a boost in services on weekday peak periods, which will see buses run every 30 minutes.

The new timetable will start from Monday 11 January 2021. You will be able to plan your new journey from Monday 28 December using the Trip Planner or a transport app.
