Regional seniors travel card pilot
A $250 regional seniors travel card will begin rolling out in Coffs Harbour as part of a pilot program, prior to being delivered to seniors across regional, rural and remote NSW.
Around 80 pre-selected seniors in Coffs Harbour will be the first to receive the new regional seniors travel card which will allow the NSW Government to test the application process, the card and support services. Feedback from pilot participants will be used to make improvement to ensure a smooth and hassle free experience for seniors.
The $250 travel card can be used for pre-booked NSW TrainLink Regional train and coach services, fuel and taxi trips. The card will assist in reducing travel costs for eligible seniors living outside major cities who typically have longer distances to travel and fewer transport options.
To be eligible to receive the $250 regional seniors travel card you must be an age pensioner with a valid Pensioner Concession Card or hold a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card issued by either the Department of Human Services or Department of Veterans’ Affairs. You must also live in regional NSW outside Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong.
Applications for all seniors will open 29 January 2020. Eligible seniors will have a minimum of 12 months to use their card from the time of activation.
