Stuart Town Station to temporarily close for rail infrastructure upgrades
Stuart Town Station will be temporarily closed from Wednesday 22 April to Sunday 31 May 2026 while work is carried out to upgrade the station and surrounding rail infrastructure to accommodate the new Regional Rail fleet.
The upgrades form part of the NSW Government’s program to deliver new intercity and regional trains that are designed to be more accessible and reliable, with improved safety features and onboard facilities.
What’s changing
During the closure, trains will not pick up or drop off passengers at Stuart Town. The station is scheduled to re-open and services will resume on Monday 1 June 2026. Some minor work at the station will continue until Wednesday 24 June 2026.
Alternative travel arrangements
During scheduled trackwork periods, buses will replace trains between Stuart Town and Orange stations. Replacement services operate from 6am Wednesday 22 April to 6pm Sunday 26 April, and from 6am Saturday 30 May to 6pm Sunday 31 May 2026 (aligned with the existing train timetable).
Between Monday 27 April and Friday 29 May 2026 inclusive, connecting taxis will be automatically provided for NSW TrainLink customers travelling to/from Stuart Town, with connections via Orange. These arrangements will be shown on tickets when you book.
