Major trackwork on Sydney Metro and Sydney Train lines from 26-30 December

From Friday 26 to Tuesday 30 December, major trackwork will affect Sydney Metro and Sydney Trains services on parts of the rail network.

Sydney Metro and Sydney Trains trackwork

T1 Western Line

  • Buses replace trains between Parramatta and Olympic Park. Change at Parramatta for buses towards Olympic Park, or at Glenfield for trains to the City via the Airport. 
  • From 5.30pm Saturday to 6am Sunday, buses replace trains between Blacktown and Olympic Park. More > 

T2 Leppington & Inner West Line

  • Buses replace trains between Parramatta and Olympic Park. 
  • Trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Penrith or Richmond, and between Olympic Park and the City. 
  • Change at Glenfield for trains to City via the Airport, or at Parramatta for buses towards Olympic Park.
  • From 5.30pm Saturday to 6am Sunday, buses replace trains between Cabramatta and Olympic Park via Granville. More >

T3 Liverpool & Inner West and T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown lines 

  • Buses replace T6 trains between Bankstown and Olympic Park. Trains run between Liverpool and Bankstown, and between Olympic Park and the City.
  • From 5.30pm Saturday to 6am Sunday, buses replace T2 trains between Cabramatta and Olympic Park. More >

T5 Cumberland Line

  • Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Richmond and Liverpool, and between Penrith and Leppington. 
  • From 5.30pm Saturday to 6am Sunday, buses replace trains between Blacktown or Cabramatta and Olympic Park via Granville. More >

T7 Olympic Park Line

  • Buses replace trains between Olympic Park and Lidcombe, continuing to Parramatta or Bankstown. Trains run between Olympic Park and the City. 
  • From 5.30pm Saturday to 6am Sunday, buses replace trains between Olympic Park and Blacktown or Cabramatta via Granville. More >

Blue Mountains Line

  • Trains run between Blue Mountains Line stations and Blacktown only. 
  • Change at Penrith for express buses to Olympic Park. 
  • Trains run between Olympic Park and the City. Trains from Blacktown to Blue Mountains Line stations run 30 minutes later than the normal timetable. More >

From Saturday 27 to Tuesday 30 December, metro services do not run between Tallawong and Sydenham. Buses replace services between Tallawong and Chatswood only. 

For travel to and from Waterloo use local buses or trains from Redfern. More >

Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 December – use trains between Epping or Chatswood, the City and Sydenham.

Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 December –  trackwork also affects trains in the City. 

For travel between Epping or Chatswood, the City and Sydenham use:

  • T1 trains between Chatswood and Wynyard or T9 trains between Epping and Central
  • T4 trains between Martin Place and Sydenham
  • L2 or L3 light rail services between Wynyard and Central.

During summer holidays, metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail may not run as usual. On Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 December, trains do not run on the City Circle, or between Central and Wynyard.

  • For travel around the City use T4 trains, light rail or local buses.
  • L2 and L3 light rail services run between Central and Circular Quay.
  • Other lines are also affected by this work.

T1 North Shore Line

  • Trains run between Berowra and Wynyard only. Change at Wynyard for light rail or local buses. More >

T1 Western Line

  • Trains run between Penrith and Central, platforms 1-14, and between Richmond and Liverpool. Change at Parramatta for trains towards Central.

T2 Leppington & Inner West and T3 Liverpool & Inner West lines

  • Buses replace Inner West trains between Ashfield and Central. Change at Strathfield for express trains to Central, or buses if you are travelling to stations between Summer Hill and Macdonaldtown. Trains run between Leppington and Ashfield via Granville or Regents Park. More >

T8 Airport & South Line

  • Most trains run to a changed timetable between Macarthur and Sydenham, or between Revesby and Central via the Airport. More >

T9 Northern Line

  • Trains run to a changed timetable between Hornsby and Central, platforms 1-14 only.
  • Daily until 8am, trains run to a reduced frequency, every 30 minutes. More >

Central Coast & Newcastle Line

  • Central Coast & Newcastle Line trains do not run via the T1 North Shore Line.
  • Trains run to a changed timetable via Strathfield only. 
  • If travelling to T1 North Shore Line stations change at Hornsby, not Epping.
